NetTag

NetTag is a solution for monitoring LTE and 5G network parameters at both the radio and IP performance levels.
NetTag can be used as part of the NetEye solution for monitoring a wide range of network KPIs or as a standalone system. NetTag includes two components: active probes deployed on stationary or mobile network assets and centralized software. The probes are active 4G/5G Cat20 devices with powerful computing capabilities. This allows them to perform network stress tests, regular baseline tests, generate specific traffic patterns for network performance testing, execute custom tests upon administrator request, and more. The probes operate in conjunction with the core NetTag software platform. NetTag provides administrators with access to manage geographically distributed probes. Administrators can launch various test scenarios in which a single probe or a network of probes begins collecting data, generating specific types of traffic, and measuring key network performance parameters such as IP throughput, IP traffic jitter, packet loss, and more. Administrators can run tests on demand or set up scheduled testing, allowing for automated data collection and active performance assessments at predefined intervals without manual intervention. A key advantage of the solution is true end-to-end network performance testing based on user devices (active probes). This approach not only utilizes data from RAN and EPC but also provides real-world, end-to-end network performance metrics.

Why is NetTag a Better Choice Than Using
Android and iOS Apps on Standard Smartphones?

Smartphones are not designed to be stationary connected to external power supply 24/7. Their batteries require periodic charge-discharge cycles. Continuous charging generates excess heat, which accelerates battery degradation and reduces its lifespan. Over time, keeping the battery at 100% charge stresses the lithium-ion cells, leading to capacity loss and shorter usage time per charge. Additionally, in some cases, prolonged charging can increase the risk of swelling or even thermal runaway, potentially damaging the device or making it unsafe to use.

Smartphones are consumer devices designed for rapid innovation and short product life cycles. Typically, after about three years, it becomes difficult or even impossible to buy the same model or find spare parts. In contrast, industrial computing devices are built for long-term availability and support. They have extended life cycles, often lasting a decade or more, with manufacturers ensuring continued production, firmware updates, and spare part availability to meet the needs of industrial applications.
NetTag: A Powerful Tool for Network Performance Monitoring

NetTag is a solution designed to collect and analyze network performance data, providing visibility into trends and potential changes over time. It enables proactive network reconfiguration or upgrades before capacity limitations impact user services.

The solution includes a range of APIs for integration with external systems, including statistics, alarms, and raw data processing. Through these APIs, external platforms can leverage NetTag’s powerful capabilities for further data analysis in AI-driven systems that monitor and optimize 3GPP network quality.

Why Choose NetTag
by mobileAPI?

The concept of using active devices for network performance analysis has existed since the early days of mobile networks. However, most solutions available today are bulky, expensive tools designed for mobile operators' technical teams and network vendors. Their "space-shuttle" pricing and the need for specialized expertise make them impractical for large-scale deployments.  In many scenarios, having dozens or even hundreds of active monitoring probes in a network would be highly beneficial—especially in enterprise environments like mines and airports, where radio coverage patterns frequently change. Additionally, most companies utilizing PLTE/P5G prefer on-premise solutions due to autonomy and security requirements.  NetTag addresses these challenges by offering a flexible deployment model. It can be used as a fully autonomous on-site installation or as a cloud-based solution, ensuring adaptability to diverse operational needs.

Housing & Power Efficiency

NetTag’s active monitoring devices are compact and easy to deploy on vehicles, construction equipment, industrial machines, and more. One of the key advantages of the solution is its extremely low power consumption. Operating within a range of just 5–10 watts, these devices can be reliably powered for extended periods using autonomous batteries or independent energy sources such as solar panels.

Pilot Project Available on Request

The best way to evaluate the benefits of NetTag is to experience it in action. You can request a pilot project, where you’ll receive a set of active probes for deployment in your network, along with access to the administrator software for real-time monitoring and management.
Project conditions are customized based on your location and specific use case. Fill out the form to request a demo and consultation on setting up your test project.
